A little space for spring

Brisbane winter doesn’t usually call for a dramatic wardrobe changeover, and this one felt like our warmest yet. I think my jumpers spent more time waiting for a cold day than actually being worn. Still, they’ve managed to take over the best spots in the cupboard.
Do you keep reaching past the same winter clothes to find what you actually want to wear? I know I do. So, before they spend another few months in the way, pull out the jumpers, jackets and heavier blankets you’re finished with for now. Give them a wash, make sure they’re completely dry, and set aside anything you didn’t wear this winter and can’t see yourself wearing next year.
For storage, I love black boxes with simple labels. They keep everything together without putting the entire contents on display. Fold jumpers so they hold their shape, and keep one light layer handy for the occasional cool Brisbane morning. There’s always one just when you’ve convinced yourself it’s summer.
If you have several boxes, try adding a QR code to each one. Link it to a quick list or photo of what’s inside, then stick it beside the label. Next time someone asks where the spare blanket is, you can scan the boxes instead of opening every lid and wondering why you bothered organising them in the first place.
The best part is that once you’ve got a system, it’s so much easier to maintain. Winter things have a home, your everyday clothes have room to breathe, and putting something away doesn’t require a game of cupboard Tetris.
It doesn’t need to be a huge clear-out. A few boxes, a little breathing room, and drawers that close without a fight? I’ll take it.
